1950s Carolyn Schnurer one shoulder dress small | novelty print dress designer | new spring
Collectible 1950's dress from Carolyn Schnurer! This is a wonderful novelty print with horses pulling buggies, trees and folk-like men and women. One shouldered style with fitted waist and full gathered skirt. Bodice is lined in red cotton. Side metal zip. Self tie belt is included.
Schnurer's designs can be found at the MET Museum: "During her twenty-year career in fashion, Carolyn Schnurer was a pioneer in the newly emerging American sportswear industry. Directing her designs toward young active women, Schnurer developed coordinate sets and dresses that were unfussy, required minimal foundation garments and could be worn for a variety of occasions. Particularly renowned for her culturally-inspired resort collections, rather than a blatantly costumed appearance, Schnurer's designs maintained a classic American silhouette and incorporated the cultural theme in fabric selection or construction detail."
