Exquisite 1950's Don Loper dress! Done in the most frothy white silk organza punctuated with black cutout dots. Halter style with velvet straps that come to a wicked V shape in the back of neck. Fitted waist and double layered tiered full skirt. Back metal zipper with snaps on the organza. Fully lined in white satin. Bodice has side bones and a weight in the center. Hand washed and ready to wear! Belt not included.
Don Loper was a successful designer who made for movies and private customers. He designed some of Lana Turner's gowns in "Imitation of Life". In 1955 he was featured in an episode of the I Love Lucy show entitled – ‘The Fashion Show.’ He also designed the stage costumes for the famous Copacabana nightclub in New York City. Loper was known for his lavish gowns and for Hollywood glamour.

Condition: Very Good Vintage: a very faint color bleed of the black velvet halter portion on the underarms and in back. This looks like a shadow and is only noticeable upon close inspection. Other faint color bleed on the inside lining not seen when worn. Faint color bleed also of the belt loops on the side, very minor.
